About Us

We are the Cumberland County Chapter of Legal Support Staff of North Carolina, Inc. We are governed by the Code of Ethics, Bylaws and Standing Rules of Legal Support Staff of North Carolina.

Membership in Legal Support Staff of North Carolina and its local chapters is open to all legal secretaries, legal assistants, paralegals, attorneys, students in the legal field or any other individuals engaged in work of a legal nature.

Legal Support Staff of North Carolina offers several opportunities throughout the year to obtain CLE credit including its Annual Meeting and Fall Seminar. CLE credit is offered during both of these meetings and at other times throughout the year, when available.

Legal Support Staff of North Carolina also provides its members with the schedules for certification exams and/or offers the opportunity to take exams for Certified Professional Legal Secretary (PLS), Accredited Legal Secretary (ALS) or

Certified Paralegal Professional (CPP), which programs are sponsored by NALS. We also offer information regarding the Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) accreditation offered by NALA. Legal Support Staff of North Carolina recognizes the effort and commitment involved with studying for and taking these exams, and offers CLE credit for participation in study group classes and taking the examinations.

Legal Support Staff of North Carolina offers a Continuing Legal Education Award, requiring a minimum of 45 credit/classroom hours in continuing education courses within a three-year period. The award recipient is given a certificate that attests to the educational accomplishment of the member.

Legal Support Staff of Cumberland County takes pride in its ongoing efforts to provide its members with educational and networking opportunities.
